A dozen or so therapy horses and some other animals died in a barn fire by my work.

Yesterday my Uncle's ex girlfriend, Lisa, laid down in front of an oncoming train. She's the second person I've known to end their life. Death is never an easy thing, but there's something different about it when it's self inflicted. When someone makes their mind up that they just can't do it anymore and resorts to drastic measures. I wish I could know when people felt this low, this hopeless, this done. I wish I could do something, say something, before it's too late. To tell them they are loved, that everything will be okay. I'd like to think a lot of people feel this way. That's the sad thing about life and depression and mental illness though. Most people don't realize things until it's too late.

A family friend of Kyle's also died yesterday due to a bone infection. Another young person gone, far, far too soon. He also was one that felt very unloved, and only now are people pouring out their love and affection on his Facebook wall. I wish they would have shared this love with him when he was still alive. Maybe he would've been stronger, fought harder, took better care of himself. Maybe not. Maybe though, and probably, he would have at least gone knowing people cared, that he was in our hearts. I never personally got to meet him, but I knew about him and cared about his well being and just as another human being. He was very well loved by Kyle's mom and family. I'm happy he had that and knew that much.

Please, let everyone you care about know how you feel. Don't be scared. Don't be worried. Don't be embarrassed. Just do it. It makes everyone's life go a little better, go a little smoother knowing they are loved. Knowing they are cared for. Smile at everyone you pass. Even if they look grumpy and hateful. Smile at them extra big. They probably need it the most. Life is short. It really, really is. Any of us could go at anytime. It's a scary, scary thought that I am battling with this week. Trying not to let the fear get to me and overtake me.

Let us be happy in this life. Let us smile, cry when we need to, hug each other, love each other. Love wins. Just love each other, and while your out loving, don't forget to love yourself. I've just finished reading Delirium, and I am itching to start Pandemonium, or Hana (a short accessory story in the series). I haven't decided which to read first, I am leaning towards Hana though. The only reason I haven't started it yet is because I've vowed to get some schoolwork finished before I even dare put it on my Kindle!
THINKING ABOUT: Family. We have a lot of family members who come to visit and stay the night with us. I really love it and think it's really fun. Kyle and I both grew up in big families so I think it's only natural for us to have a lot of people around at times. I am grateful that people want to come over, and spend so much time with us!
WORKING ON: Homework owns me. Every single week. Every Sunday I am rushing to catch up.
ANTICIPATING: I really want to get Netflix and catch up on all of the seasons I've missed of Grey's Anatomy (assuming they have it on there).
WATCHING: Roseanne. I will always love that show. It's the best.
READING: Currently between books as stated above! :)
WISHING: I am wishing for warm weather. The wind and cold have been particularly bad today, and I am just so, so ready for spring, flip flops, and some warmer temps.
BEST PURCHASE: My very first laptop. I adore it, and it sure has made school life, reading blogs, and playing Runescape a lot easier!Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-70895011489168909852013-03-23T13:24:00.003-07:002013-03-23T13:24:44.294-07:00Embrace it, don't destory it.Everyone is created differently. We have different genes, appearances, traits, habits, thoughts, predispositions to things. Not all of it is always good, but it's what teaches us the most. It's really sad to me that instead of acknowledging our differences in a positive light, encouraging them, embracing them, and loving other people in spite of the bad stuff, we instead judge people, tear them down, and think our differences are somehow better. I think the world would be a better place if everyone just loved a little bit more, in spite of everything and in spite of mistakes, and nothing will ever change my mind about it.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-76315856185922079922013-03-14T10:29:00.000-07:002013-03-14T10:29:46.863-07:00ABC's Of MeI still do not have a proper "About Me" page (I must work on that!). So I thought it would be fun to do this quick little MeMe, I'm not sure how well it'll translate into getting to know me, but we'll give it a shot!

B. Bed size: A full size.
C. Chore that you hate: Putting away laundry. No other chore bothers me than this. I'd rather clean toilets.
D. Dogs: We don't currently have any dogs, or pets at all for that matter. We gave our chihuahua away to a family member when we moved here.
E. Essential start to your day: Hitting the snooze button as many times as I can get away with.
If I really thought of it, I could think of a ton of things I'd like to accomplish this month. I am going to try to keep a nice, short list though as it'll be easier to work through, and less intimidating. April may bring it's own set of goals, and I'm sure it will.

Some things I'd like to accomplish this month:

Get our bedroom and closet organized • Truth be told, we are hardly ever in our bedroom unless it's to get clothes. Most of the time we don't even sleep in there because I have a problem sleeping without a TV on and we currently don't have a TV in there (we should soon though!). So, needless to say in the housekeeping department the bedroom gets little to no attention and there's an awful mess just scattered about our floor. Same for our closet. We have a nice, walk-in closet that I love, but at the moment it's a bit hard to love with the mess I've let it become. Once it gets nice & tidy, it'll be like a breath of fresh air. I am a bit of a neat freak and it's really been bothering me not having made the time to take care of this, so the simple act of knowing it's clean regardless of how much time I spend in there, will be refreshing.

Begin and maintain a fitness plan • This is something I've wanted and have planned to do for a long time now. I have a ton of ideas and suggestions and exercise routines pinned on Pinterest, and beyond hitting the "PIN!" button, I've done absolutely nothing with these guidelines, and I'm not really sure why. I'd really like to start a workout routine and start getting more fit and lean, and have even considered joining a gym in the near future. I'd like to start at home first though, and well...I'm really not sure what I'm waiting for! There's no time like the present.

Turn in all assignments on time and strive for the best possible grades I can • I try my hardest to be a good student, and education is something that is VERY important to me. With the constraints of work, family, errands, etc. etc. I can easily procrastinate and then when I get around to doing my assignments I don't always necessarily put my best foot forward because by that time I am feeling pretty rushed. So this is changing immediately. This last week doesn't count though, okay? I had some technical difficulties going on which lead to some late and rushed work. Phoenix got water on and killed our cable modem, so I went to Kyle's Gram's to finish my assignments and with my luck the website went down!

Even though this is a short list, I think it's still pretty ambitious (for me at least). I hope and plan to find the time I can to do these things and do them well without having to sacrifice anything else. I just need to get some better time management habits and I think from there hopefully everything will start to flow nicely, although I will always expect some speed bumps to appear.

I will be doing an update on this post around the first of April to see what my progress has been, plus putting it up here in the public to everyone helps me to be extra accountable! ;)Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-54857071741931896842013-02-20T22:51:00.001-08:002013-02-20T22:51:13.951-08:00Some thoughtsSince starting this blog a couple of weeks ago I've thought a lot about it. What to post. What not to post. Potential privacy issues. Do I want it to be a lifestyle blog or a beauty blog? Is it okay to have a lifestyle AND beauty blog in one? What if no one reads it? What if people read it and laugh and think I'm wasting blog space? What if there are not enough pictures, and what if they aren't "pretty" enough. I don't know how to edit photos or make the cute little banner things with wishlists and such. That doesn't mean I will never know, but right now I don't. All of these things have discouraged me, and kept me from writing and posting except for the Sunday Currently posts, which are straight forward.

Tonight while browsing my BlogLovin feed, and browsing new to me blogs (while procrastination on my homework naturally!) I came to the conclusion that none of the above worries matter. What I write, whether no one likes it or follows me, is good enough. My photos whether they are perfectly edited in Photoshop or not, or whether there are even that many, it's good enough. If I want a lifestyle AND beauty blog, I will have it. If I want to post about nail polish or a Spring make up wish list one day, and pictures of my kids the next, that's just what I will do.

I think starting a new blog is intimidating, especially when you read so many other wonderful blogs. But really...the point of blogging is to share your voice. Even if no one reads, I am still putting myself out there and if nothing else it will serve as a reminder to me one day of who I am, and what I've done. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about happiness and what makes me happy and what doesn't make me happy. I've thought about just who it is *I* am. It sounds like a pretty simple question with a pretty simple answer, but once you actually start thinking about it, really thinking about it, it can get pretty intense. Many people struggle with wishing they love certain things, and feel bad that they don't or can't no matter how hard they try. Same goes for personalities and traits. I have began a process of searching and realizing just what these things are and aren't and accepting them. I am on a path to self discovery and self betterment and I expect a lot of posts in the near future will be about just that.

I think it's going to be fun, exciting, and liberating. Maybe I can help other people realize these things as well. And if not that's okay. Because, writing about it here, will open up my eyes to even more things and help me realize even more. Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-80346333738504020282013-02-17T20:53:00.000-08:002013-02-17T20:53:26.835-08:00Weekly Currents

LOVING: I love that my husband has I think, had a breakthrough in feeling better. I love that everyday is a little better for him, and through it all and times of frustration and a lack of patience on my part, it's been a growing experience and I feel we are even stronger and closer.
THINKING ABOUT: I only have two more weeks left in this quarter of school, and then I move onto new classes which seem really interesting.
WORKING ON: Finishing up this week's homework, and organizing. And by organizing, I mean making to-do lists in my head for the past 3 weeks. ;)
ANTICIPATING: Tuesday, because I don't have to work and we'll get to spend time with my Aunt. I am also hoping to make some of those mental to do lists happen.
WATCHING: Kyle's Gram has been over and we've been watching lots of CNN, Hoarders, and Snapped. I really want to watch The Following as I've heard great things about it. Have any of you seen it?
READING: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green.
WISHING: I could earn a solid living by reading books all day.
BEST PURCHASE: New pens, and vitamins. Although, the vitamins would be a bit better of a purchase if I'd remember to actually take them :XAmandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-65956141627130708302013-02-16T00:39:00.000-08:002013-02-16T00:39:11.765-08:00Life LatelyI learned how to crochet today! It's something I've been wanting to do for years and years just haven't had anyone suitable of teaching me. Kyle's Gram is teaching me and it's amazing. As someone who constantly has to keep their hands busy I find it amazing and I am pretty certain I'm already addicted. I can't wait to master what I've already learned and learn more.

We've been trying to get some health issues with Kyle under control. So far there's been no magic solution, but he's is trying and I am very optimistic he will overcome this.

I've fallen a little behind on schoolwork but I plan to majorly make up for this tomorrow.

Valentine's Day was nice and kept simple. We made the boys Valentine hearts (which Kyle and the boys also made for me and his Gram), bought them colored pencils and Valentine cookies to bake. I got a set of colored pens, vitamins, and castor oil, but that's what I truly wanted. P.S. Castor oil is for my skin, not the purpose that's stated on the bottle. ;)

I read The Silver Linings Playbook in about 48 hours. I cannot wait to be able to sit down and watch the movie.

I've been eating lots of Reese's Puffs and drinking lots of Pepsi.

I have been practicing a lot of patience (not a virtue of mine, unfortunately), and trying to keep everything in this household as stress free as possible, which is not always easy, but so far it's going well and I am much happier for it.

I've been following the Carnival Cruise disaster with much intrigue. I'm not really sure why, as I've never been on a cruise or am interested on going on one, but some things just draw my attention more than others.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-79875131418838999942013-02-10T23:05:00.000-08:002013-02-10T23:05:32.515-08:00CurrentlyI realize this makes two "Currents" posts in a row, as I haven't updated since last Sunday. Things have been busy over here between the usual family, school, and work, we've been having lots of random family members visiting and sleeping over. We love having guests here and it's always a lot of fun, so that's what my time has been going to lately. Our guests aren't ending this week either, Kyle's Gram, one of our absolute favorite guests is coming tomorrow or Tuesday to stay for a few days. It's always such a blessing to have her here for a few days and spoil her with company and good food (Kyle spoils her with his cooking- I can't cook!). I have lots of ideas floating around in my head for blog posts. Probably nothing earth shattering but I'm still just getting started and trying to find my voice. I just need to jot these ideas down and get to typing. I hope to start regularly updating this week and am looking forward to doing so!

LOVING: All of the company we've been having! First it was Kyle's cousin and one of his brother's. Next my Sister stayed for the weekend which I absolutely adore having her here. I am so blessed and grateful to have such an amazing sister, I can't get enough time with her! Tonight Kyle's Aunt and little cousin is staying, which the boys are super excited to have someone little like them to run and jump and play with! Makes my heart smile. ♥
THINKING ABOUT: Sleep. I have been staying up way too late lately and waking up with so much regret and sleepiness. Yet, I do the same thing over and over. I need to change this, I need some rest and an energy boost. As soon as this post is published, I'm taking my behind to bed.
WORKING ON: I'm trying to become better at Math. I am not doing as well as I thought I was in my math class. I have been forcing myself into "time outs" in front of this screen to take extra time to try and learn what I'm doing and the formulas better. It's going slightly better but I still didn't score as well on this weeks quiz as I'd hoped. It'll just take time, and patience. I will get there, I know I will.
ANTICIPATING: Having the week off from work, I love weeks like this where I can stay home and spend endless amounts of time with my family and just relaxing. I'm also looking forward to the visit from Gram. I have a sneaking suspicion that lots of Hoarders will be watched and some fun games of Yahtzee! will be played.
WATCHING: The Americans and The Ultimate Fighter, we are very big on UFC in this family, and my absolute favorite fighter (Jon Jones) is one of the coaches this season, which makes it all the more exciting!
READING: I am actually not reading anything at the moment. I have been trying to decide what to read next and I think I've finally decided and it's an autobiography of a former geisha.
WISHING: For more hours in the day. There is so much I want to accomplish that if I think of it for too long it'd be overwhelming but I've made the decision to take it easy and do what I can when I can.
BEST PURCHASE: I found an Essie nail polish on clearance for $2 yesterday. Finds like this are always super exciting because although I love Essie, my budget (or brain) doesn't really allow me to spend much more than $3 on a nail polish so finding that was a nice surprise.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-57568874848061039892013-02-02T17:02:00.000-08:002013-02-02T17:02:35.697-08:00Currently.LOVING: Gretchen Rubin. I seriously cannot say enough about her Happiness Projects! I recommend everyone read the Happiness Project. I have more posts planned for the future on this subject in ways that I've found relative to me.
THINKING ABOUT: Painting my nails. I haven't painted them in ages and it's always a nice pick me up.
WORKING ON: Getting my midterms done and also all of the ideas floating around in my head for posts. I need to get out a notebook and pen and make a rough draft plan. Also, I've been working on my patience, which I literally just failed at while typing this sentence. This is going to be a difficult one. In addition, I'm trying to figure out how to edit photos to the right size and put them together for these posts and others. I'm not doing very well with that, which is why there are not photos with this post! ;)
ANTICIPATING: A nice, warm, bubble bath.
WATCHING: This week Kyle & I checked out a new show called The Americans. In the previews it looks really good, then after the first five minutes I wanted to turn it off, BUT, I am pleased that I have it a few more minutes of chance because I found that I do like the show and I think it'll be very interesting. I can't wait to see what happens on next week's episode.
READING: Happier at Home by Gretchen Rubin.
WISHING: I had learned to drive last Winter so I'd be less ill prepared on driving in this weather.
BEST PURCHASE: Food! As dorky as it sounds, I LOVE grocery shopping and re-stocking our fridge and cupboard, even if it is only a bit.
Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901210219930539393.post-69281702572884458072013-02-01T17:20:00.002-08:002013-02-02T11:03:43.581-08:00I wish...

I wish that my babies weren't starting school this Fall. I want them home with me, all of the time, and to myself. Selfish Momma, over here.
I wish that Gretchen Rubin would do nothing more than make happiness projects and write about them.
I wish I had $200 to do a make up haul with.
I wish I was really, really good at math that way I wouldn't be tempted to cry over my stupidity on a weekly basis.
I also wish that I was really, really good at graphics and design!
I wish my cat, Manson were still alive and sitting on my lap right now.
I wish that more people could truly see the beauty everywhere they looked and drown out the hate.

On Sunday, our little buddies turned 5! FIVE! They must have not gotten the memo that they are growing up way too fast and need to stay little for just awhile longer. As they've been recovering from sickness and I had to work for most of the day we kept the evening pretty simple. We took them to the store and let them have $20 each to do what they pleased. Phoenix picked out a Woody (from Toy Story) toy and a Spiderman Webshooter. Solaris picked out a Batman that came with the bat mobile and a small Spiderman action figure set. They had kid's meals from Burger King for dinner as they requested and I made them cake once we got home. Small celebration, but simple. ♥

A couple of weeks ago I had an idea while I was at work to interview the boys each year right after their birthday. I think it will be so fun to see their answers each year and what changes and what doesn't change. It will also be a precious treasure to save for them when their older and for Kyle & I to look back on as they get older. With that said, yesterday I did their big 5 year old interview! Here is what I asked, and here is what they said! ♥

Phoenix's Responses

What is your favorite food?: Spaghetti
What is your favorite snack?: crackers
What is your favorite drink?: Pop or Juice
What's your favorite movie?: Harry Potter
What is your favorite TV Show?: Spongebob
What is your favorite song?: "Cinema" by Skrillex
What is your favorite toy?: Woody
What do you want to be when you grow up?: A normal person.
THINKING ABOUT: Plans for tonight which include Algebra with my Sister as we both have homework in this class! An as for the funner things we are going to do our nails & watch Catfish. I must introduce her to this show.
WORKING ON: Getting into the swing of things having started school. I'm trying to learn how to juggle work, family, schoolwork (which I have a ton of), and free time. I will get it down, but it'll take some time!
ANTICIPATING: Girl time with my Sister!
LISTENING TO: I haven't listened to much music lately. So you could say I've been listening to whatever Kyle listens to and whatever is on TV.
WATCHING: Lots of Hoarders and Hoarders Buried Alive.
READING: Heads in Beds. Gotta represent the hotel industry!
WEARING: Yoga pants, since I dumped my pop all over my jeans at Applebees, an owl shirt, and owl toe socks.
WISHING: I didn't have to drive tomorrow. Me & driving have not been getting along lately. I will get through it though.
BEST PURCHASE: I got two new nail polishes today on clearance for $.90! It's been a long time since I've added to my nail polish collection I was beginning to have withdrawals.
WEEKLY HIGHLIGHT: I would say probably today. Spending the day with my Aunt and Sister. Applebees. Laughs. Shopping, and more to come later.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12609532245973437424noreply@blogger.com0
